Let’s make my favorite Starbucks drink – Iced Shaken Espresso with a Splash of Sweet Cream and 2 Pumps of White Chocolate Mocha Sauce – but at home and even better!

White Chocolate Mocha Sauce

Starbucks is pretty famous for their white chocolate mocha sauce and I completely understand why. It has a rich and sweet flavor that is honestly addicting and takes the drink to a whole another level. Starbucks also knows its a fan favorite and actually charges more to add the white chocolate syrup than any other syrup/flavoring. So instead of paying $6 for a coffee everyday, we’re just going to learn how to make it homemade. That way you can always make it exactly to your taste.

To make the white mocha sauce, you just need 4 ingredients:

  • White Chocolate: It can be wafers or chips – just anything that melts well.
  • Half and Half: This helps the white chocolate stay in liquid form so it doesn’t harden when it cools down. After all, we’re making a syrup/sauce!
  • Evaporated Milk: Any milk will work fine but evaporated has a more concentrated flavor. Add 3 tablespoons instead of the full 1/4 cup if you like a thicker sauce.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: Honestly my favorite to add into coffee. So rich and sweet and compliments the white chocolate beautifully.

How to Store the White Mocha Sauce

Since the sauce has dairy in it, it needs to be transferred to an air-tight container like a jar or tupperware and kept in the fridge. The syrup did not harden for me in the fridge but if for some reason that happens to you, just microwave for 15 to 30 seconds.

Vanilla Sweet Cream

Vanilla Sweet Cream is the best thing you can add to your coffee. It sweeteners your coffee and makes it creamy all at the same time – the best of both worlds. I recently tried the Chobani Sweet Cream Creamer and it was SO SO good but when it was all sold out in store, I decided to make it at home. It might be the easiest thing you make!

To make the sweet cream, you just need 3 ingredients:

  1. Heavy Cream: This is what puts the cream in sweet cream!
  2. Vanilla Syrup: This is what puts the sweet in sweet cream! You can use any store-bought vanilla syrup that you like or you can just make it at home. It’s super simple to make. Just add 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, and 3 tablespoons of vanilla extract to a pot. Bring to a boil and continue boiling until all the sugar dissolves and the syrup is clear. Then drop the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes until it thickens. Transfer to a jar or container and allow to cool to room temperature. It will thicken more as it cools too.
  3. 2% Milk: If you don’t have 2% milk, you can use whole milk or even dairy-free milk. It just helps to thin out the sweet cream since heavy cream can be a lot.

How to Store the Vanilla Sweet Cream

Since it’s dairy-based, it needs to be transferred to an air-tight container like a jar or tupperware and kept in the fridge.

If you’d like, you can also whisk it until it thickens up to make vanilla sweet cream cold foam!

For the Coffee

Feel free to prepare the actual coffee part however you like! This recipe is just for the sweet cream and white chocolate mocha sauce which can be added into any drink you like. My go-to drink for the last year has been a Doppio Espresso or Iced Shaken Espresso with sweet cream and white mocha. It has a very strong coffee taste while having some sweetness and creaminess but not too much of either.

To make this at home, I use my Nespresso Machine with the Ice Leggero Coffee Pod. I then add some ice and shake it off. Then add a splash of sweet cream and about 2 pumps of white mocha sauce. It’s the perfect drink!

Ingredients

Vanilla Sweet Cream
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons vanilla syrup
  • 1/3 cup low-fat 2% milk
White Chocolate Mocha Sauce
  • 4 ounces white chocolate
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup condensed milk

Instructions

TO MAKE THE WHITE CHOCOLATE MOCHA SAUCE
  1. To a microwave-safe bowl, add the white chocolate and half and half and pop in the microwave at 50% power for 30 seconds. Take it out and mix really well. If it's not fully melted, microwave again at 50% power for 15 seconds and mix again until melted.
  2. To the melted chocolate and half-and half, add the evaporated milk and condensed milk. Mix to create a smooth and creamy sauce.
TO MAKE THE VANILLA SWEET CREAM
  1. In a bowl, jar, or measuring cup, add the heavy cream, vanilla syrup, and low fat milk. Whisk together for about 30 seconds and that's it!
